History

The Ancient Kapilvastu Center for Integrated Development of Nepal was officially established on 8 February 2024, under the provisions of the Organization Registration Act, 2034 B.S. (1977 A.D.) in Kapilvastu District Administration Office, Lumbini Province, Nepal. This Act provides the legal framework for the registration and operation of non-governmental and non-profit organizations in the country, ensuring they operate transparently and in alignment with national development goals. The center was registered with the District Administration Office in Kapilvastu with the objective of promoting integrated, sustainable, and culturally sensitive development in the historically significant region of ancient Kapilvastu.

In accordance with the Act, the founding members submitted a constitution outlining the center’s goals, structure, operational guidelines, and sources of funding. The primary objectives defined in its statute include the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage, facilitation of community-based development, enhancement of tourism infrastructure, and the upliftment of local livelihoods. By adhering to the legal requirements for registration, including a minimum number of executive committee members, clarity of objectives, and provisions for financial transparency, the organization was granted legal status as a non-governmental, non-profit entity.

Since its establishment, the center has been actively involved in coordinating development initiatives across multiple sectors such as education, archaeology, heritage conservation, agriculture, and eco-tourism. Its registration under the Organization Registration Act 2034 ensures that the center operates within the regulatory framework of the Government of Nepal, reporting its financial activities and project outcomes to relevant authorities, thereby promoting accountability and public trust.

Through its legally recognized structure, the Ancient Kapilvastu Center has become a model institution for how grassroots development can be legally and ethically managed. By aligning its mission with both the spirit of the Organization Registration Act and the developmental aspirations of the local community, it strives to transform ancient Kapilvastu into a center of heritage-led, people-centered development.
